Kong this white man...

I went and saw King Kong tonight and yes that is a very long three hours.

I have met native island people and yeah I know y'all out there are rolling your eyes saying "IT'S A MOVIE" --- it also had DINOSAURS and GIGANTIC BUGS in it and everyone knows dinos and humans and gigatic bugs did not exist all at the SAME TIME... (AHHHHH- and those bugs NEVER existed on earth so there)....

Hey lady this is a sci-fi flick - get-over-it and realize it's for -

*e n t e r t a i n m e n t*

Ok then, I just have to say this because this little voice in my head says I need to say it. It bothers me deeply the way they portrayed black/native island people in this movie. The zombie and fire routine urks me- and frankly it is unnecessary to the story line.

Nobody seems to care what happens to the natives - no one wants to take them back to New York...just a part of the film that left me going - WHAT? Especially since the rest of "leading" cast is so damn frick'in WHITE. Yeah do have that ONE couragous black man who is the captains right hand man...not really working for me...why wasn't he the captain, yeah I know - the story is in the 1930's - not many black men running ships in AMERICA those days.

I just thought the island people were over the top. And maybe that's the point they were trying to make- make it so over the top - that they might has well have been meeting alien life forms instead- which I guess they were -um sort of?

I know all the rational - what is that, you say, oh yeah -it's a *MOVIE*. It's that whole art imitates life or life imitates art? I just think there is fine line we dance on here and it's always good to THINK ABOUT it. Three hours sure is a long time to think about it too...
