I was in the car today listening to the radio - my husband and I had just picked up our taxes from the "tax lady"... it's that annual April chore. I'm always amazed at the mathematics of it all (not being all that good at math helps with the awe part for me anyway- thank God my other half lives for numbers - yep I married a carbon of my own daddy - they even share the same damn name but that's another story)...
Anyway NPR's All Things Considered was on the radio and they kicked off a new series call "This I Believe" - they present the personal philosophies of thoughtful men and women in all walks of life. Today's story was written and read by Isabel Allende, author of "The House of the Spirits" (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4568464)- she spoke about her daughter who became ill, went into a coma and then died.
Then she spoke about giving - and what it really means. To really lose everything is an opportunity to give it - not feel like it was taken away - but she said much better than I am here.
Anyway - sometimes I wonder if my guardian angel is making sure I'm getting my essential dosages of reality checks.
