Oh yeah - that rain is coming down real good now. And it's a cold rain [?]!!! For a NorCal girl - it took me a long time to get used to seeing clouds and not run to go put on a sweater! Rain here is usually shorts and t-shirt type weather. So to step out on the balcony this morning and feel cold rain was a treat (in a weird way)...
The wind is pretty sporadic and gusty. We watched a movie last night and then turned on the news just to catch up and make sure we weren't missing any important info (big mistake)...Bill and I have limited TV - to watch it is an effort - everything is tied up to our computer and then we watch it on a computer screen. My total TV watching hours for 2005 have been maybe 2 hours (mostly at other venues than my home).
So, we went to bed last at about 2AM. The news reports made it sound like Armageddon was on it's way and if you hadn't figured out your escape route it was way too late and you'd had better "hunker down"... Needless to say the most fearful part of this storm for me has been watching the damn news reports.
Truth be told - Tornados have been the biggest threat to those of us in central FL. We had some pretty awesome lightening here in Winter Park and Lake Virginia - the lake we live next to- is "flooding" a bit. We count ourselves very luck - we've only lost power for a few minutes and then it was back. The Tornado warnings made for very fitful sleep for me... I woke up a lot between 2 - 6, from 6 - 9 I slept solid and then Bill got my ass out of bed. Making my coffee quick as I was sure we'd lose power...
The southern part of the state has not been as lucky as us and they've been punished by WILMA - a cat 3 when she landed at 6:30 am. Even though the FL state Governor (aka Jeb) is not my favorite... he's been doing a great job if you ask me. He is very calm and can actually speak very eloquently, a gene obviously lost on his brother. I can sit through him giving information with out wanting to throw something at the TV.
Anyway we are "hunkering" down and watching and doing as much work as possible just in case we lose our power and Internet connection...which means I'd better get back to it... more later...
